Gary E. Kilpatrick, PE, DFE is a certified operator, inspector and trainer for overhead bridge cranes. During his pre-college years, Gary worked for the inventor of the forklift and frontend loader namely “The Clark Equipment Company” from 1978 through 1983. Clark Equipment was the main competitor to Caterpillar at the time. Gary worked in Clark’s 500,000 square foot facility that manufactured rough terrain forklift and rough terrain telescoping boom crane drive train systems namely the drive steer axles, transmissions and differential assemblies. The drive steer axles would weigh in excess of 2000 pounds. The transmissions were the size of a home refrigerator and weighed as much if not more than the drive steer axles. Gary was trained for and operated overhead bridge cranes while he worked in Clark’s assembly operations. Gary has thousands of hours of hands-on experience operating overhead bridge and gantry cranes.
Today Gary offers his expertise in operation, inspections, design and maintenance and overhead bridge cranes and safety to his legal and insurance clients throughout the United States.
